One thing I learnt for all my travels whether its overseas or local - take a power board from your country.
During our first trip to Europe I took numerous power adapters for all the different countries we were visiting and then even bought more when over in Europe. I ended up with a bag full of these different adapters when I got back home to Australia.
So I thought there must be an easier solution and bought an five outlet Australian power board to charge my tech gear. That way all I need is one travel adapter connected to my Australian power board and I can charge my GoPro, laptop, iPad, iPhone and my Canon camera batteries all at the same time from one hotel power point...
I used to take something similar but concluded it was too bulky and also needed an adapter. For me, this worked much better. Although a little heavier than the two adapters I used to carry around, it will charge a "regular" plug in and 2 USBs at the same time.
I use the "Monster plug " available at Amazon. It isn't too large and the cord snaps close to the plug for packing. I bought the one with four outlets.
My reaction is that you are carrying too much electronic stuff. I know, I know, I am just an old ...... ! I just use one adapter, one plug with two usb ports and couple of cables. I am smart enough that I can rotate my charging so everything doesn't have to be charging at the same time.
Thanks for your comments fellow travellers... Its now given me a thought to look into it a bit further.
I have tried a USB multi outlet charger but it didn't have enough output if your using all the ports to charge, so that got thrown out. lol...
Unfortunately when my fiancee and I travel we don't have the time as suggested to take it in turns to charge our tech, as we are up early and don't get back to the accommodation till very late (i.e. in New York last August we weren't getting back to our hotel till after midnight!), so thats why we need a multi charging set up to charge everything during the night...
And all our cables, etc, are all kept in a small packing cell so its easy to manage.
Thanks for some ideas, and its interesting to hear what other people do... :)
I use an adapter with this: Anker 40W 4-Port USB Wall Charger, PowerPort 4 for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / A... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VH8G1SY/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_AUrfo9Rb2B23F
Charges: phone, iPad, Bose headphones and external battery pack (phone is camera which sucks battery) OR selfie stick charger.
A Power Bar is a good option for charging multiple devices, as the outlets will be configured for the plug configuration of the country where it was purchased. However a reminder that North Americans should only travel with a basic model and NOT one that contains surge suppression or RFI filtering, as those are not designed for use on 220 VAC electrical systems and will likely self destruct quickly.
Wow! I've spent 21 weeks in Europe without a "powerboard". How did I ever survive?
Well, maybe it's because I don't use a lot of devices that use electricity (and I'm not as old as Frank). I take a cell phone with me, but I don't use it over there 'cause I don't have anyone to call (I don't use it until I get back and call someone to let them know when I'll be home or when to pick me up). About the only thing I need to charge regularly is my laptop.
