I'm building maps for an upcoming trip. For the second time in recent weeks, Google Maps is sputtering. The most recent problems began last night and are continuing. I've tried both Edge and Chrome. I'm getting error messages from the website itself, so it seems pretty clear the issue is with the server hosting MyMaps, not my PC or my ISP. (I'm on the East Coast.)
What's happening is this: A map loads, but slowly. I add a pin and change the icon. At some point after that, MyMaps stops responding and displays a message, telling me I may lose any changes I make and need to reload. When I reload, the recently-added pin is either missing or has the original default icon. It's basically not possible to create a new map or add pins to an old one right now.
Thought others might like to know it would be smart to allow some extra time for work on MyMaps. It concerns me that this is the second protracted problem cycle I've experienced this month. However, I am able to load my existing maps, though slowly, so I hope those on the road who are trying to use MyMaps are not having difficulties.
There was a period last night when even the basic Google Maps weren't working for me; that seems better now at a quick glance.
