Sprint Global Roaming cell phone plan

My wife and I will be traveling to England soon so I contacted my cell phone carrier Sprint and was pleasantly shocked at the new Global Roaming plan.

Basically, it's unlimited text and data and 20 cents a minute for calls in and out of selected countries (which includes England). I think that's a pretty good deal. You have to contact them at sprint.com/swwsupport and they add that feature to your phone. They also give you instructions on how to enable your phone for the plan once you reach your destination.

Just Google Sprint Global Roaming. They are adding new countries all the time.

I will post a reply when we return and let you know how well it worked.

Tim, how is their network coverage in England? Who is the local provider?

My Sprint cell phone in England/Wales worked fine for Text and data at no additional cost. We ended up connecting to the O2 cell network while there. This did require registration with Sprint. I used it a lot in London when lost to find my way back to the hotel using Google Maps. Worked great.

I did not receive or make any cell calls while there so I can't confirm the 20 cents per minute cost.

Tim,

I doubt that you'll be accessing the "Rogers" network in England, as that's a Canadian cell network. You'll likely be connecting to O2, EE, Three or Vodaphone, depending on which them has a roaming agreement with Sprint. Your phone could possibly connect to various networks, according to which one has the strongest signal in a particular area.
