We plan to travel to Tuscany this May and have been advised by a friend that Skyroam is the best for access by phone or pad without having to use a SIM card replacement. Does anyone have any experience with Skyroam? Thanks
Hi. I have used Skyroam several times in Europe and like it. If you buy several "daypasses" at a time, it ends up being Internet access for $8 a day. I carry the Skyroam device in my pocket and it gives off a password-protect signal that keeps me connected. Also, this lets me avoid hotel wifi that is not really private.
Skyroam works great - we've used it in Morocco, Berlin, Bulgaria, Japan & Mexico. It didn't work in Cuba.
We are typically about 12 hour time difference from Berkeley, so most of the time used the hotel wifi in the morning or night, and cranked up skyroam every 2-3 days when traveling from one place to another.

Looks like an easy option, but unless you have multiple phones/devices or use lots of data it can be relatively expensive. When I went to Sicily last year I got a Vodafone SIM with a discounted plan for visitors. 20 euros for 300 minutes, 3GB of 4G data, good for 30 days. Tethering was allowed to connect other devices.
