sharing a pc

My wife and I both have our own windows11 laptops
But on an upcoming trip of 4 weeks, we want to have only 1 pc to lug around.

Would like to hear from anyone technically inclined who have explored various methods and have mastered one - and are willing to share.

Could you please be more explicit about your concern? Unless each of you is on his or her laptop 24/7, I don't understand the problem.

Thanks for elaborating.

Is your question about sharing a pc? That is what we always do. Please elaborate on your question.

Yes...sharing a PC.

One could have 1 user and both sets of files/apps co-mingled
Or, one could have 2 users on the PC and logout/login
Or, maybe other alternatives...

We don’t travel with our pc, but at home we have 2 users on the PC and logout/login. We’ve done it as sharing one as “one user” on an older pc in the past. Our current method gives us essentially our own pc set up when we each use it.

I would probably just decide which PC to use, and then have the other person log on as a 2nd user and get their own apps ready before you leave.

Most couples here, I imagine, just share the same laptop and use the same apps, etc. You could do that as well, which would probably be easier, but it really depends on what you are using it for. If it's for work, then I'd go with a different user. But if you just want to check emails and so on, you could just open new browser tabs for that.

Mardee,
We both use Outlook, which is the primary problem.
We could use a browser to access mail, but we lose calendars and task manager.

newmarket2, if you could each read your email in a web browser (or at least, one of you) and not use Office 365/Outlook, that would make things easier.

If you are only both needing separate email with Outlook, you could try to add the second email account on the first laptop and co-mingle that way. As long as you use IMAP for email not POP3, this will download and sync copies of the email on this laptop, but when other person gets home and uses their laptop, all of the email will show up there too once it is downloaded.

But, it would be cleaner for each person to have a separate account on the shared laptop - then login separately when each person is using it. It's easy to create a second login account on a Windows laptop. It's not quite like having a completely separate PC, but it's probably close enough for what you need.

Here's some info from Microsoft on how to create a second account on a PC:
