Schengen Calculator App

I was just made aware of a new Schengen Calculator app called Schengen Simple. It's available for Apple and Android. I gave it a try and it's easier to use than the others--at least in my opinion. It does cost $10/year but you get a week free trial.

I don't have any connection to this app but I thought I'd share it with others.

The Schengen website has a calculator for calculating days left. Not sure how easy it is to use. I guess the rule is 90 "calendar days" (not 24 hour periods) in a 180 "calendar days" period. Seems you should be able to do your own calculations on any spreadsheet program.

This also seems like a problem most normal people would not have. Although I have historically spent less than $100 a day on the ground in Germany (accommodations, meals, in-Germany transportation, Misc.), I really wouldn't want to spend that much (plus, the cost of not being at home, like boarding a dog, would be a considerable addition). Might be an issue for someone doing a lot of business in Europe, like Rick?

Another free Schengen calculator is at https://www.visa-calculator.com/. I find this one easier to use than the "official" one.

Lee, perhaps I'm not "normal," but last year I ran within about a week of overstaying in the Schengen zone. I was visiting Norway and wanted to extend my trip somewhere else, but when I used the calculator to determine how many days I had (based on my previous trips), I realized I had to extend it outside the Schengen zone. I went to London for a week. Which was great.

Lane, I don’t think it’s that uncommon for people here to have extended trips. Last year I had an 11 week trip to Europe and a 4 week trip to Australia. My 11 week trip included the last 10 nights in England, so that wouldn’t have counted towards my time. In 2022 I had a 6 week trip to Europe in the spring and a 10 week trip to Europe in the late summer/fall. The first 6 weeks and the last week of that trip were in Ireland and the UK, so it wouldn’t have counted anyway.

This isn't the first time someone has accused me of not being normal, and it certainly won't be the last.

No. Not that easy because the rule more correctly stated is not more than 90 days in ANY 180 day period which makes it a sliding scale. Yes it can probably be done on an excel spreadsheet. But as good as I am with excell I wouldnt want to deal with all of the complexities that sliding scale presents when you do multiple trips.

I am happy those days are over. They were a nightmare when I dealt with them.

I haven't found a good one yet. I'm so tired of giving out my info to make accounts. I really want to find something that saves my trips without forcing me to sign up for another app. I use a spreadsheet but the rolling window is a pain to display nicely.
