Not sure if this is obvious or not, but will I find rental cars in UK and Ireland with the USB ports to charge our devices? We also have one or two of the "cigarette lighter" plug in type chargers if that would work better.
Are you sure that the usb port doesn't allow you to play music stored on a flash drive on the car radio. It probably also allows you to charge. If your lighter charger says 2.1A, it might charge faster than the cars usb port; if not, it might be slower.
The Ford Fiesta I rented last fall had a USB port that integrated my iPhone with the car's sound system allowing music as well as turn by turn directions from Google Maps. It also kept the phone fully charged. I also had a plug in which was useful for charging my GoPro and my backup power bank.
Sounds like no surprises. Thanks.
I'm with Kaeleku. You can never be sure, so it's best to bring the plug if you have one. They're small enough! For not having to worry about it.
I hire cars on a regular basis in the uk and have found USB charging ports in most if not all the ones I have used in the last few years.sometimes they are hidden underneath a flap or a ridge in the main dashboard but are usually there.
I bring along this to charge multiple devices at the same time. Very handy for long drives.
