Recording Self-Touring Notes

Has anyone recorded self-touring notes for their personal use?

I would like to create my own customized touring notes for cities, museums, etc. Like Rick's really great recordings from his Audio Europe series, but just with what I want and just for me (no commercial use). I have done a number of web searches and all I get are sites that target someone creating a guide and monetizing it for others to use.

My goal is to have someting better than just an audio recording on my phone. Features such as smple playback and pause buttons, ability to add maps, etc. I have experince and the equipment for making audio recordings. I'm looking for the playback engine.

Why not upload your recordings to YouTube? You can then add maps and other video elements, like photos or even live video.

If you aren't looking to share them, you can upload videos to YouTube with a "Private" option.

You might look at PowerPoint for iOS or Android - you could hopefully add narration to slides, insert maps, etc. and play back as a slides how, or convert to video. It might be easier to initially create the content on a desktop. The file would sit on your phone.

With YouTube, you would have to use data to play back the video - not ideal depending on your plan.

@Lane and @markcw,

Thanks for your ideas. My fallback plan is to use Google Slides. Free with enougt PPT features to do what I need and I can use offline. I've also played a little with Google Maps, but the interface to make the custom maps is more trouble than it's worth.

I'm suprized there is no app...I'll keep looking.

You can actually use a "Podcast" type App for recording whatever you want. Just a thought. I use Spotify for Podcasters (formerly Anchor)
