Photo Printer?

This is a bit off-topic, but most of the photos I print are from travel.

My current printer is starting to pack up, and I am looking for a new one that does good photo printing. It needs to be wireless and be able to handle at least letter size paper. Does anyone have one they really like? Are those printers that have more than four cartridges worth it? Price is certainly a consideration, but I'm willing to go into the triple digits U.S.

I know about the online services that will make prints for you. I'm looking for a printer of my own. Similarly, we can take the whole "Do people still print photos?" topic as read. :)

Good that you are willing to pay more than $99 for a quality photo printer. A number of photo printers are running at about the $100 price point but if you want to print 8x10s you will need to go to the $200-$300usd range.

My Canon Photo Inkjet printer produced quality prints but it's ink jets are likely dried out since I've been using online photo print services. The online services, including one that produces the prints at my local supermarket/department store is cheaper than buying the quality photo print stock and ink.

I totally agree with Edgar. Unless you are doing fine art prints, the drugstore prints are cheaper and a lot less hassle.

We make our own cards with our photography, and hang some on the walls. Our printer came with our Canon Mark 3 camera. It is a Canon Pro 100. It has 8 ink cartridges. My husband likes the results...he does the printing. The ink is $130.00 for all 8 cartridges. You do need to set the correct profile and try different paper types to determine which result you like best. It certainly is better than our other regular printers, by far.

Avoid, unless you absolutely must have a printer at your disposal in your home. All consumer printers suffer from planned obsolescence. Switch brands or between laser and inkjet does not help. Over the printer's life you will pay more than at the drugstore, but rarely achieve "pro" quality.

As I've already said, we are indeed looking for a printer to use in our own home.
