Orange E-Sim & Old Phone

Hi all,
Maybe an odd question and perhaps already answered elsewhere:
We are heading to France again this fall and I have been looking into getting an Orange E-Sim for the trip. Primary reason is my only phone at present is a work phone; my employer has no issue with me using it as it's part of my employment package, but I'd rather not have any ties to work while we're away. My thinking is that I have an old iPhone SE Gen 2 that is still functional but not active on a carrier. Does anyone know if you can utilize an E-Sim in a phone like this, or does it need to be currently active with a different carrier? It's still tied to my Apple account etc. just no current usage as a phone perse. Any tips or insight would be appreciated!

Both the Apple online community and the Ubigi website claim that the iPhone SE Gen 2 can, in fact, accept an eSIM. I'd suggest visiting an Apple Store to verify that, and to verify that your phone is unlocked.

I have done this with an old Android phone and it worked well for me. If your iphone is unlocked you should be able to do what you are planning to do with the sim. BTW, I used a card from Orange and it worked well. I was able to buy it in advance through Amazon so that I had it on me when I got to France and could set it up then. Then we had a local phone number to use during the trip since my husband's phone was a work phone and like you didn't want to have any work ties while away.
