Thanks for the gifted article!

I downloaded Bolt a couple of years ago because some forum friends who live in France use it. It was very helpful in getting from Vernon to Giverny when the shuttle was not moving.

I also use CityMapper, probably because someone here suggested it and I like it better than googlemaps.

The article doesn't go in to any other apps besides transportation, dining and navigation BUT I've found on my last few trips that many museums have their own apps. It's easier to download those at home before you go than having to do it in the lobby of a museum, hahaha. It also means I always need to have my AirPods with me if I'm going to access them in a museum.

Thanks for the link.

Personally I tend to be very selective about the apps I'll use and keep my devices app lite. CityMapper and Google Translate are probably my most used travel apps, along with United, Amtrak, about a half dozen UK TOCs. I won't use social media apps, Uber or Lyft, Booking et al., nor third party service apps. Museum apps are very useful and I do like them.

Thanks, Sam. I missed that article.

Notably missing are local weather apps. We like to get the in-country preferred apps like Il Meteo (Italy), MeteoSwiss (guess where?), and Met Office (UK).

My apps depend on my destination. I forgot which ones but I remember I used a different chat app and map in China in 2019. A specific weather app for Japan.
I just downloaded Bolt for use in Poland and Budapest this year. And a few apps for new airlines that I'll be traveling with.

My "travel folder" on my iPhone is always evolving.
