Noise cancelling sleep masks?

Has anyone tried these products? Seems like they would be great for planes and hotel rooms.

Not a joke. But not something I'd waste money on. I like my noise cancelling headphones, but I like to use them when I'm awake, too. If I need a sleep mask, I use a cheap one from the courtesy pack provided on the plane.

I would think that the only "noise canceling" sleep mask that actually works is one that you put on the other guy - the guy making all the noise - effectively gagging him until he stops breathing. I might be tempted, but probably not a great idea.

If you want to "cancel" noise coming from someone else, get some good earplugs, and (most critcally) learn how to insert them correctly for full effect (trickier than you might first expect). THAT does work.

The linked product is not "noise canceling" and marketing it as such is deceptive. "Noise canceling" technology is something specific, and this is just an eye mask with teeny little speakers. No noise canceling there, just choosing your own noise to layer on top (which is not the same). Pretty scammy IMHO.

I agree with David that marketing headphones and earbuds as "noise-cancelling" is ridiculous. They are no different than any other earbud in that you are listening to your own music to cover up the noise. I can't sleep with music in my ears, so regular foam earplugs are a better solution to me, than this. Whereas "active noise-cancelling" headphones are different and generate white noise or counter-frequencies to mask sounds to produce a quiet environment so you can sleep. The only ones I've found that do that are very expensive.

I’d like to buy actual noise cancelling headphones at some point. But until then I just use regular earbuds playing white noise. You can find a wide variety of white noise on Spotify, some tracks better than others. Nowhere near as good as real noise cancelling but better (for me) than actual music. I can’t easily sleep with music on (even relaxing instrumental). I also use the white noise when I want to read in a noisy place, like an airport gate area before my flight.

Pretty weird product, but if it works, then great. However, I'd rather use my noise-cancelling earphones and my sleeping eye mask together. I'll save 30 bucks ;)
