New Apple USBc

Apple now uses a USBc. In the past I was able to charge my mini pad by just inserting the regular USB into any port available in the hotel in Europe. Does anyone know of an adaptor that is USBc on one end and USB on the other? Thanks. Carol

Just do a search for a USB C to USB A cable - lots of options available. I used to use a Mophie cable - but it is such a slow charge that I've just gone with the USB C to USB C cable and charger provided in the box.

periscope is right about the speed. I've also switched the cable for my phone to be USB-C to Lightning. So much faster!

Go to an Apple store and ask. They will sell you the right stuff.

New iPhones ship with Lightning to USB C cables and no included charger, while iPads ship with USB C to USB C cables and 20w USB C chargers. iPads cannot be charged wirelessly.

Apple Store was out of them including online. They sent me to Best Buy and they were out of them too.

USB c seems to be where small electronic device charging is headed. I just went ahead and bought a small charging block. It’s similar to the one in the link and is rated for 30 watts. Compact cube that’s about 1 inch x 1.5 inch and has foldable plugs.

When buying 3rd party accessories for Apple devices I look for Mfi certified (made for iPhone/iPod/ipad). So far so good but certainly could be a ymmv situation.

Only USB to Lightning cables and adapters are part of Apple's MiFi certified program.

Instead of using the hotel’s charging port, you can just take the charging brick and cable you are using now, and a plug adaptor for the European country you will be visiting.

Or buy a USB-C cable connector if you want to use the hotel ones, with the other end having the appropriate tip for your device (Lightning or other). I believe Belkin cables are approved by Apple and you can buy those on Amazon in various lengths.

I bought an Anker PowerPort Atom III - it has 2 ports - 1 regular USB and on USBc. I got mine in the Anker store on Costonext.com but you can also find it on Amazon.

I'm been using it since I left for Germany and it works great! It also charges incredibly fast.

Or you can also buy a USB to USBc charger - I have one of those as well. I got this one at the Apple store.

"It also charges incredibly fast."

Yeah, I prefer not to charge my iPhone that hot (20w), it's hard as hell on the battery's longevity.
