Music App sans $$$Data?

First off, thanks to all that clued me in to the Here We Go nav app! Returned from a month in France and wow it worked great!!!
Now I'm searching for a music app that works in the USA for road trips: besides downloading my own music, can anyone recommend a music app for roadtrips that won't cost me tons of data?
Thank you!

most cellphone plans offer unlimited data at such a cheap price, it's silly not to get it.

There's a lot of music out there, like Spotify and Pandora and Audacy and iTunes and SiriusXM and Amazon Music. Just buy the data, or at least upgrade for your trip. You can stream from your phone into the car's audio system, or carry a little Bluetooth boombox.

I agree, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't cap your data if you use too much of it.

Apple Music also works offline...but requires a great deal of patience to get connectivity. Still working that out. But the selection is marvelous and a family plan is a great deal: $14.99 for 6 people. I am grateful to find an alternative to SiriusXM (ugh).

Data isn't all that cheap here (especially compared to the EU)--and regardless of what plan you choose (budget>premium) ATT includes this disclaimer: "...data speeds can slow during periods of network congestion". When isn't there network congestion? Not so keen w/video or music!

I stream a lot, in LA, on Verizon, with Spotify and Sirius. I have never been throttled or capped. Those caps are intended mostly for video streaming which can use gobs of data.

And if you're of a certain age, all you do all day is stream to your cell so that's why they had to institute caps. Some folks also use their phones as hotspots and so that has to be capped as well.

Very good info! I like Spotify search better than Apple but I’m a bit put off by their draconian privacy practices-like if you cancel premium you get on a free plan whether you want it or not/data harvesting ad infinitude.
Am I fretting too much?
