I know there is another post about this app, but I didn't want to hijack it. Archaically, in USA I only use a flip phone. Internationally, I now am not using a phone. When I travel, I use my iPod Touch for all my needs via iPod and a VPN. I don't fly enough, IMO, for global entry...just 2 or 3 times per year. I haven't tried the mobile passport app because I don't know if there is a good wifi connection in the immigration section (remember when you couldn't use your phone there?). So I'd like to know if anyone has used this app just with a wifi device rather than a smart phone? Was it successful? I assume you have to wait to get into the immigration line area before finalizing the information on the app. I fly into Logan/Boston.
hi Wray - the only point I can help with is that you don't have to wait until you get in the immigration line area before finalizing the information on the app. You can do so as soon as the plane parks and they let you turn your devices back on. But of course there won't be any wifi there, so that's of no help to you.
I did enter through Boston but used a cell connection so I can't remember if there was wifi in the immigration hall. I kind of doubt it though. Hopefully someone with some more detailed info will come along.
I'm bringing this back up to see if anyone recently has tried wifi only Mobile Passport.

While not recent, I tried in summer of 2016 to use the app from an iPad in Atlanta, unsuccessfully. I had to wait to connect to wifi after I was inside the terminal and then it kept timing out without ever transmitting my info. This summer I successfully used the app twice after upgrading my flip phone to an iPhone.
Thanks Katheryne, I might just have to wait for the time when I do upgrade my phone.
Don't know if this is any help. We use our iPad for travel, wifi only. Obtained Mobile Passport for our a rare entry this fall through Dulles (we are Philadelphia, and our airport does not use it), but was unable to get approval. We have been told that Dulles has problems with this, although the issue may also have been that airline had my first and middle names combined into one name on their record, and we needed to go to a special line and review even after using the Kiosks.
In any event, the Dulles wifi itself worked fine as we walked to the immigration hall.
Larry, Thanks. This at least tells me there may be working wifi to attempt to finalize the Mobile Passport. Maybe someone else has actually been successful using it. Thanks again.
