Lock Screen Message

For Android phones, it's possible to put a message on the lock screen. This way if you and your phone are parted, whoever finds it can contact you without having to unlock the phone.

Mine reads: "If found, please contact "my name" at "my email address."

To do this: Settings>Privacy>Lock Screen Message.

Not sure about Iphones.

This option isn't available on my Samsung. I don't have a 'privacy' option under settings either so not all Android systems are the same.

Good idea though.

Aha....found it! For a Samsung Galaxy S7 go to......Settings... lock screen and security... info and app shortcuts... owner information.

Ah, Frank II, master of all things tech.....do you know if I can do the same thing on my iPhone? It's a great idea but I am, as my kids say, technologically challenged😳.

Say- what a good idea! For iPhone users, just type up the info using
the Notes app, do a Screengrab, then use that photo as the Lock
Screen. Easy and so smart.

For Iphone's there is an advanced feature whereby if your lost phone is found, all the person has to do is activate Siri and say "Who's phone is this", and your contact info will pop up on the screen and give the option to call the owner using an alternate number, or email.
In addition you can log into your Apple account via icloud.com and report your phone as lost. Once done, your contact info will appear on the lock screen automatically.
Details on how to set this up can be found here:

Thanks, Michael! I totally missed the previous reply that would have answered my question. I think this is a really good idea and sure seems like even I can manage to set it up from what you have written. Off to experiment with my phone. Never thought of Siri........

Yes, I was able to put this on my (replacement) Samsung 6 after the first one got left in a taxi -- in my home city.

I have never found such an option on my Apple iPhone 6. Ever, there are times when I regret getting apple products.

Just like mentioned above, just ask Siri. So much easier than android.... not that I'd gloat.....

(have three android products too, so don't judge)

I have been using the super low-tech version of this idea for my iPhone 7. I have a clear case which makes this easier. I typed out two lines that say IF FOUND, CALL (USA) then typed in my partner's cell phone number. Second line: EMAIL: and typed in my email (which I can check from another devise). Cut out the tiny slip of paper and slip it between the back of the phone and the case. You could also tape it on to the back of a non-clear case if the case is smooth enough.
This low tech version will work even if your phone's battery is dead.
