Lithium battery in carry on

Hi.

I just got my Anker PowerCore 10000 delivered today and right on the shipping box it says "forbidden for transport aboard passenger aircraft". I have searched the forum but the only discussion I found was 14 years ago.

Can anyone tell me if I can carry this in my carry-on luggage on a transatlantic flight?

Thanks.

Actually, I believe it must be in your carry-on, it cannot be checked and put in the hold. You also need to take care, if they offer or require you to gate check your bag, you must remove the battery and take it on the plane with you.

Almost all passenger aircraft carry cargo. The warning means the item couldn't be shipped on a passenger aircraft since it would be in the hold. Lithium Ion batteries must be carried in carry on bags.

We have carried the PowerCore 20000 several times in our carry-on luggage. No issues.

Heads up that if you have to gate-check your bag you'll be asked to fish the battery out.

Thanks so much, everyone. I suspected that was the situation but nice to get confirmation from seasoned travelers with real life experience!

Its the only thing I get stopped for in NZ because I have several small camera batteries and a power bank in my carry on -I now put them in my liquids bag to stop the discussion.

Lithium and liquids are usually a bad combination.

TSA really doesn't care about your LI battery, it's the aircraft owner that has final say. So you have to confirm with them what is the max watt hour allowed in the cabin and calculate, if needed. But I have that Anker as well and you should be fine, you're under 100 watt hours.
