Bogiesan, I was wondering that myself - most other forums are able to keep spam out without too much trouble.

Remember, the RS IT department I think is made up of one person. And the forum is not exactly their most important feature. (The areas that make them money are.)

Give him a break. He may be working with a forum software package that doesn't allow customization or if it does, it may be limited.

The best thing we can do is report it and not respond.

Re: Frank II's comment above. Hear Hear! In the overall scheme of things, the spam on this site is a very minor annoyance. Just treat it like one does annoying neighbors -- simply ignore them and carry on.

I don't think it's easy to write code that will keep spam out, spammers are always finding new ways to get in. RS is certainly not the only message board to be plagued by spam. The Fodors forum is always trying new things which help for a while, until they don't.
