iPad connection in the Uk

My IPad does not has have a connection for a regular USB port. It’s too small. How did you charge your IPad in the UK?

Hmm. So your iPad doesn’t have a lightning port? Some of the newer ones have a USB C port. So you would need a charging cable that has USB C on one end and the correct connector on the other to fit the charger you have. If your charger has a US style plug then you need an adapter plug too. I’m slowly starting to move over to USB C chargers for my devices.

Does your charging cable look like this: Limited-time deal: 20W USB C Fast Charger for iPad Pro 12.9, iPad Pro 11 inch 2022/2021/2020/2018, iPad Air 5th/4th, 2022 iPad 10th Generation, iPad Mini 6, PD Wall Charger with 6.6foot USB C to C Charging Cable https://a.co/d/4pgjDir

If so, you could add an adaptor to the brick (the thing that plugs into the wall. You need one like this: Ceptics UK Travel Plug Adapter, 2 in 1 Type G Adapter, US to UK Adapter, Ireland, Dubai Travel Adapter with Dual USA Inputs, CE, RoHS - HK Outlet Adapter, 3 Pack https://a.co/d/jcJWTDd

If you have multiple things to charge (phone, ipad), you could get something like this. This would allow you to plug in your iPad cable and other items that charge with a usb cable: Limited-time deal: US to UK Plug Adapter, TESSAN Type G Travel Converter with 3 USB Charger(1 USB C Port), 4 Outlets Power Adaptor for USA to Qatar Ireland Hong Kong England Scotland Kenya Dubai London British https://a.co/d/dlCLgiE

Do not use these for a hair dryer or curling iron unless the appliance says it is “dual voltage” or rated for 220V. You could short circuit the item, cause a fire, or damage the electrical system of the building.

Thank you everyone. Looks like that lightening cable may be the best choice. I have an adaptor.

You shouldn’t need to buy a new cable; whatever cable and charging brick you use in the US will work in the UK; you just need a UK plug adaptor to plug the brick into. (This is a summery of what everyone else said above).

The charging port in your iPad is either lightning or USB-C. Both are “small”. The other end of the charging cable—-that goes into the charging brick—-will be either regular USB, or for newer iPads that use a fast-charge brick, USB-C. For example, my 2017 iPad uses a “Lightning to USB” cable, and my husband’s 2019 IPad Pro uses a cable with USB-C tips on both ends. His charging brick is the “fast charge” type with the small USB-C port. (There is a link with a photo of this type in one of the posts above). All either of us needs is a plug adaptor for Europe or the UK.

Both iPads can actually be charged with either charging brick (with the right connector) but the USB-C charging brick is faster. And while we each use our own system at home, we travel with a charger that has several ports—-two regular USB for our phones and my iPad, and one USB-C port for his iPad. And two plug adaptors, one for Italy and one for the UK.
