Global Entry reminder

Just a reminder that when you get a new passport OR a new drivers license, you need to update your info on the GE site.

When I went in the other day to input my new passport #, I noticed that I also had to update my new DL expiration date. It just so happened they were expiring in the same year. With both of those wrong, I guess I would be sitting in airport jail for quite some time.

I've been using Global Entry with expired passport and driver license information for several years without incident. I wonder whether this is common. But it's nonetheless a very good idea not to run afoul of CBP for any reason.

Thanks for the reminder!

Just found out my wife has never even entered her driver's license into her CBP Global Entry profile, so it doesn't appear to be obligatory. Upon reflection, I'm not sure why CBP would have any interest in driver's license information at all.

I'm guessing GE wants both passport and DL because:

Belts and suspenders
You might be travelling with only one or the other

CPB doesn't care about your drivers license. But TSA does.

If you want to use your drivers license as your ID it needs to be in your Trusted Traveler Profile.

Remember, that number you get is your Trusted Traveler number that covers both GE and TSA Precheck.

I'm glad you posted this. I've got to update my passport soon. I know I'll have to update the plane and train tickets I've already purchased, but completely forgot about GE. I know there was a website I'm supposed to use for that, but can't remember what it is or if I ever had a password for it. I guess that's one more thing for my to do list... Thanks!
