French SIM for using in the UK to call France

Hello

I am trying to find a sensibly priced solution! I need a SIM with a French number that I can activate whilst in the UK but purely to call back to France. My family can send a SIM over, but the calls are so expensive. Does anyone have any ideas that would work please?

EDIT: I need to make calls for work so I need whatsapp and calls. Probably 500-1000 mins a month.

Thanks

Maybe just get a UK SIM and use Whatapp or Skype?

You need to specify how long you need the capability for and how
much calling you intend to make.

Most UK sims still allow free roaming in Europe - just check that your sim does, and covers calls as well as data.

I think the first usage of a brand new French SIM would need to be in France. It's usual that it will need to register on the network there before it roams to the UK. Someone else may know differently.

If you can manage with a UK number you should be able to get a bundle that includes your calling needs. Poke around some of the links I posted in this thread -

or walk into a phone shop once you are in the UK.

If you have family in France, you might be best off shipping them a phone that they'll load up with the French SIM and mail it to you in the UK.

Still not clear why a French phone number is essential.

I think having someone send you a phone already set up and running from France would be your only option. I can't think of any way around that if you need a French number.

ETA: If it's absolutely crucial, there's also a call forwarding service. I'll link to one below as an example but I in no way recommend or endorse this service -
