My wife would like to take her Fitbit to Europe, to see how many steps we put in. Is there a way to set up an iPad mini to keep track of her steps? I have the Fitbit app loaded, but the dashboard only shows data from another computer (the one we set the device up on originally) rather than updating from the Fitbit itself.
Maybe under "account" you should choose "set up a new device?" I have the Fitbit app on both my phone and my iPad. I've worn my Fitbit on several trips to Europe. Just remember to change the settings for your location.
Hi Joel, try syncing it. Go to the dashboard you set up on the I-pad. Tap on the first box (the one that shows the picture of your device). Go to the bottom where it says "sync now" and tap it. You may have to do it more than once to get it to work. I had mine set up for "all day sync" but it only worked when I manually forced it to do it. Your post made me laugh. This was the big dilemma on our last trip, when do we reset the location - here or wait until we get there - so we don't lose any steps. We waited until we got to Paris. Good luck!
Nancy and Donna, thanks! I'll try your suggestions when I get some free time, and post the results.
You just have to make sure the Bluetooth setting is turned on for the iPad app to upload the Fitbit data. Then make sure the app is synced to your Fitbit and you should be good to go.
OK, this took 2 seconds, but I worried about it for a day before I tried it. As Douglas suggested (thanks!), I just turned on the Bluetooth, after which the app synched automatically. The iPad app even works a lot better than the dashboard on the laptop (where we originally set it up) since the iPad shows my wife's steps increasing in real time as she walks around the house, whereas the laptop only refreshes every 15 minutes or so.
So, thanks very much everyone.
Hi Joel, glad it worked out. I have my Fitbit data on my I-pad mini and it works great. I was talking with my friend last night and he reminded me that the location/time changed automatically when we got to Europe and the devices picked up a wifi signal. Both my I-pad and his Withings worked just fine. Have a great trip!
Hi Donna, yes, I found a place (Fitbit app-->account-->advanced settings) where I can set the time zone to update automatically. Nice to have one less thing to remember :-) Thanks again.
