eSim in Italy with/phone #

I am wondering if I am looking for a unicorn.

I will be in Italy and would like to see if there is an eSim option that provides an Italian phone number. I found that Orange only provides a French number, and I haven't found any other services that can provide an Italian one. Ideas? I looked on TIM's website and other Italian service providers but didn't see anything obvious.

As far as I know, Orange is the only one that issues eSIM data plans with phone numbers. Have you tried contacting Orange to ask them?

It's much easier just to take your cell phone and pay $10/day, or at least that's the deal we got from Verizon. No issues, simple, and easy.

Thanks. Maybe I should have added details.

TIM has physical SIM cards, just not eSim.

Just adding the international plan to my Verizon plan won’t work because I need a local number. I have elderly family members who don’t use smart phones, so I want to make it easy for them to contact me while I’m there.

I checked with Orange and they only issue French phone numbers.

It sounds like the best course of action will be to bring my older iPhone and buy a SIM card. The TIM visitor card will work fine. I was just trying to avoid having two phones. But it will be fine. I’ll buy an eSim for the newer phone so I can use the data with it.

Is your new phone dual SIM enabled? One physical and E SIM? Perhaps just move your Verizon service to E SIM and free up the physical slot for the Italian SIM. That way you only need one phone.

Rocket, does Verizon allow for eSims? If so that would fix quite a bit.
