Esim for UK

From a glowing review I read on this forum, I added a Roamless esim to my phone. It's pay as you go rather than buying a package.

However, it's terrible. It rarely works, isn't available inside buildings and even outside I can't get good speeds. It's even slower than T-Mobile which I slow. For a minute I got speeds of over 400 but most of the time I can hardly connect.

I contacted their tech support and they told me to switch networks. I did. Not much of a change.

Has anyone used an esim in the UK successfully and if so which one?If you used one in Spain, France, Shangrila or Narnia, it doesn't help.

In April we used Airalo esim in England. We had the regional Europe package. It’s data only. We had no problems with it.

I used the Airalo esim when I was in Scotland last month. I got the UK data package - $10 for 30 days. It worked seamlessly.

Sparks eSIM was OK, with more dead zones than ideal. Did the job, though, and it was cheap.

Frank II, sorry to hear that Roamless didn't work well for you. We used it in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Lichtenstein, and it worked very well. No issues with connecting or with speed. I appreciate your feedback because we will be in London in June 2025, and plan to use it there. We have also used Airalo in the past, and still have the app on our phones. Good to know that we may need it if Roamless doesn't work well for us in London.

slbdaisy....when I communicated with a Roamless tech support person, he had me manually switch my mobile network to O2-UK. He said that's what he used in the UK and it worked best.

In popular areas I'm getting speeds up to 5 mb. Not great. In some areas, nothing.

I will see how it goes with Roamless. If I still have problems, I'll get an Airalo esim as well.

We've used Orange successfully all over Europe, and over the past two weeks, we continued that usage in Scotland and Northern Ireland. It was flawless. 5G the whole time, no connectivity issues.

Thanks for that info, AbbyO. I think we'll try to find an Orange shop next. Need good multi-country coverage.

Frank II: I wonder if the issue is 4G vs. 5G? Does your phone do 5G? and if so, can you switch from 5G to 4G? My Galaxy S10 does not do 5G, so I don't know much about that. I understand that if there's good 4G, but your phone is trying to connect to a weak 5G signal, the results may not be so good. Also, the higher frequency band 5G may work very poorly or not at all, in some buildings.
