Do you have the city maps 2 go app? Upgrade...

Just wanted to give a heads up on the CityMaps2Go app. I just popped onto it and got a notification that the one I had was being discontinued and a new app available. So using their link, I upgraded to the new one. All my info was saved and transferred over...AND...they upgraded to the premium plus features for free (supposedly a $40 Canadian cost). I was at the 2nd tier for goodies, now at the 3rd.

I’m not sure how long the upgrade to premium is available....but if you have the app and haven’t been onto it for awhile, maybe give it a check and upgrade while you can.

Just a quick edit...I was at ‘pro’ level, now at ‘premium’.

Good catch, Nicole. I've just seen the same message thanks to you and now I too am "premium".

I need to check to see if I am offered something different now, but during my trip this summer I noticed that things had changed. I had a lot of difficulty with the app, and not just in one location. I hope those were just growing pains.

In addition to maps that froze and maps that disappeared (blue dot on blank screen--so very helpful!), I had to re-download all the maps I needed for my trip, and the geographic labeling was completely different. That part alone was really frustrating, and then to have the app not work well...

Interesting. I haven't used it for travel since April. So maybe the new app is to fix whatever issues it was having. I'm not sure when the new app became available. I'm sure I opened it a few months back to load in Scotland maps, and no upgrade them.

Someone with an Apple device posted about the free upgrade quite some time ago, but I'm Android so wasn't too surprised not to have seen anything during my trip, which ended on Sept. 18. I'm glad of this reminder that it's time to check again. I was massively frustrated with the huge drop-off in the usability of the app in 2017 as compared to 2015 and 2016. And it's not like I was in odd places; my 2017 trip was to France and the UK.
