Did emojis go away?

I'm taking a small break from the harrowing process of driving in Cornwall. I just tried to insert a smiley emoji into a post and was not allowed to. I added it as a :-) but couldn't use the full-fleshed one.

I'm assuming that is because of all the spam lately? If so, I'm all for it.

Mardee, I'm thinking it's linked to spam deduction too. I'm OK with it.

Yet I can still see them at the end of Mardee's city, Diane's name, and Kathy's state right in this thread ! Hmmmm

Maybe we can use emojis in our personal profiles but not in the text box?

The forum posts have now eliminated the option to use emojis. It’s a new change. I had an emoji in one of my own posts, and when I went to edit the wording, I received the error that I couldn’t have emojis.

I would imagine that current emojis will stay in old posts, but you just can't add any new ones (and maybe if they're revised, you might have to remove them?).

Is it really a problem to have to use old fashioned standard text?

i think emojis are fun and a quick way to convey emotion. however, this is rick's forum and they can make any rule they want. we are here for free.

spammers are no longer using the traditional fonts including another large batch today. Eliminate the possibility of doing that and it makes it harder for spammers and easier for spam zappers. As a consequence emojis can't be there either.

That's my understanding of the issue

Testing.

Pressed send and got “Oops, you may not use emojis “.
Must be a spam related deterrent.

I tried to send a PM to a forum member yesterday, and received the “unable to send. No emogis allowed”. There were no emojis in my text.

Larry, no one said it was a problem. I posted because I was curious. Plus I think people would appreciate knowing so they don’t go to the trouble of using an emoji only to have it rejected. :-)

Mardee I’m sorry you’re finding the Cornish driving quite difficult. It takes a bit of adapting to when you are used to American roads which are so easy to drive on.

If you have to reverse just go slowly and don’t allow the oncoming driver to put you under any pressure. If I get some massive 4x4 or BMW coming up to my bumper I just go even slower. If they’re in a rush THEY can reverse!

Helen, it’s getting much better! The first day was a little stressful because I wasn’t used to the high hedges made it difficult to see past a few feet in front of you. And there were some cars that go rather fast coming in the direction.

But I’ve gotten better at it. Yesterday actually went very well and today I was zooming along like nobody’s business. :-)
