Consumer Cellular - lowered their data rates for international roaming.

Within the past few months Consumer Cellular has substantially lowered their international roaming rates. The rates can vary by country, but the cost for data, calls, and text now seem pretty reasonable. For those using Consumer Cellular in the US, turning on international roaming for a trip abroad may provide a simple and inexpensive phone solution -- not requiring a separate eSIM or use of some other technology.

Good to know. I am a Tracfone user, and I love the domestic service, but it does not provide international calling/roaming when abroad. I am going to do some research for Consumer Cellular. Thanks for sharing that tip about CC.

I try to keep up with the latest news re technology

Last year, I was at an event and sitting with people who used Consumer Cellular. I asked their opinion about Consumer Cellular and they loved it.

I am a senior who belongs to AARP and I have often thought of Consumer Cellular if I need to change.

I have three CS phone lines. In the US, I am exceedingly pleased. I did a trip to Belgium a couple months ago and basically was without phone service for the few days I was there. Not impressed, especially since I signed up for the international plan before I left. And the fact that my other two trips to Europe visiting half dozen countries was EZ PZ with Verizon (that's before I switched to CS).

I will be traveling to Portugal at the end of October for 10 days. I would not like to repeat the no phone service issue. If someone who has CS can help, it would be appreciated.

The two phones that we will take have physical sim card holders. Which is better, physical card or eSim?

A cheap burner phone might be an option. Anyone have any experience with that?

I am open to all suggestions. Thanks.

rmill.ace, It is very discouraging to read about your lack of service with CC in Belgium. We are headed for Portugal too, but in late October. We would also appreciate hearing from CC customers who have used (or tried to use) the international plan in Portugal.
