CityMaps2Go - Ulmon

CityMaps2Go (Ulmon) is having a sale this weekend. Their Premium service is only $9.99 (discounted $20).

The App is free, but you only get one map. If you upgrade, you'll get Unlimited Offline maps, no ads, and you can customize the maps and lists with colors, shapes and pins.

If you miss the sale this weekend, it seems as if they have sales around holidays and long weekends. So you can always catch the next upcoming sale.

I have the updated CityMaps2Go app. Where are the customizable maps with color-coding and shapes? I have maps with pins I pre-selected that are on my lists.

Continental, I'm not sure. I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet. I'll let you know if I figure it out.

The one currently on sale in the App Store is the Pro, not the Premium. The color and shape are Premium options. Premium is on sale for $14.99.

So I went to check on this, because i have the Pro level of service. When I logged in, it told me that it was being discontinued, but for the trouble of downloading the new version I'd be credited with...something Premium. I'll let you know how that goes.

Perhaps the "will be discontinued" bit explains why I've had so much trouble with my Pro version since there was an update to both software and maps earlier this year. It's slow, buggy (maps oftem disappear if you try to move them or zoom in/out), and prone to crashing. Repeatedly. The search function is now maddening: perhaps half the time it doesn't find accurately-spelled streets/addresses, yet they are on the map if you look for them manually. When I get home, I plan to try out one or two of the other options. There's just nothing like being told you are in Paris (visited briefly the previous week to change trains) when you are actually in Great Britain on the island of Jersey. And the blue You Are Here dot sitting on an otherwise-blank screen is so very helpful.

This mirrors my experience this week. They gave me the "premium" for free (and they made sure I knew the dollar value of that "freebie") after they told me the Pro is to be discontinued. I've using the app and don't see where color-coding is made available.

My map info and listings were brought over to the new "premium" version so that's a plus.

I'm using City Maps 2 Go and I love it! Thankfully, I'm not having any of the problems spoken of here. I have the premium version that I upgraded from the Pro version.

I was able to upgrade from the "Pro" version to the "Premium" version at no charge.

When you see the color-coding option, please share where it is and how use it here. I'm still looking as I too did the free upgrade to Premium too last week.

I think we can use the color options when we use the desktop version, then the colors will be there when we view on the smart phone. I'll have more time to play around with it this week.

Update: I reached out to the people who run Ulmon and they emailed me back to confirm that I do have the premium product on both my iPhone and iPad.

Now that I know I have the premium product, I need to figure out what the benefit of these bells and whistles are. What does this color coding and symbol assigning do to make the app better? Why is the app better that my Canterbury list is green and my Gibraltar list is blue? What am I missing about color coding that makes the app better?
