I just wanted to post a heads up as I generally do when this comes around...got an email that citymaps2go app is free today...ONLY today (July 13). It generally runs about $10. So if you e wanted to have the pro version but didn't want to drop $10, today is your chance!
On my other post, someone said it is saying you have to pay for the upgrade...not sure why...this is from the email”...Hooray! CityMaps2Go Pro is FREE only today.
Get your FREE CityMaps2Go Pro version for Android and iOS now and save €10.99 ($9.99) !!”
Oh...forgot the code!
For Android it says use FREEAPP code.
I don’t see a code for IOS. I already have it, so when I go to the Apple App Store, I can’t see if it says free.
I just downloaded the Pro version onto my iPhone and it didn't ask for a code or require a payment, although I needed to enter an email to set up an account. Looks good! Thanks Nicole P!
I just tried to get the app on my android, but it said that FREEAPP is an invalid or expired code. Can anyone help me?
For my Android, it worked this way:
Download the Free app. Install. Then go to menu symbol in upper left and click on "Redeem a Code", then type "FREEAPP".
thanks for the notice!
Thanks Shoe. I was finally able to install it. Also, thanks Nicole for posting this.
I recommend downloading this wholeheartedly!!
Why is CM2G so much better than Google maps? I downloaded it but can’t really tell the difference between the two. Can I access my information on a website as well?
I don't think CM2G is better than Google once you have downloaded the maps. In fact, I think.Google is quite a lot better, in that it has more inOfrmation on restaurants, sights, etc. CM2G doesn't find everything I search for, not even every street name.
However, with CM2G you can download an entire country map with just a few clicks. Those are large enough that I normally don't have more than two on my phone at the same time, but the size is manageable. I think if I tried to download Google's full map for France, my phone probably wouldn't have enough space. But it would be very time-consuming to download individual bits and pieces if you wanted to focus on just the areas you were visiting. Not a problem, obviously, if you're just going to Paris.
I just like City Maps because it was the first one I downloaded and learned to use - so I like the interface better. I don't have a smartphone, so using google maps or whatever for driving directions doesn't work for me, haven't tried it for walking. I've downloaded a few other map apps (maps.me and pocket earth) but I just stick with what is familiar to me.
