Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on the Celebrity Cruise's Xcelerate Internet Wi-Fi Plan?
If so, I have a couple of questions:
1. The price they currently show says *From $224 for Unlimited but then nothing after that. So the price is *From $224 to WHAT??? If it's UNLIMITED then I don't understand the "From".
2. It says the price is *Per Person which I understand but I will be traveling with 2 devices, an iPhone AND an iPad and I want to be able to use both. So if I purchase this plan is it specific to only one device or is it an account that I can sign into on any of my devices?
3. How is the speed and connection?
Thanks to those who reply.

I think you'll get much better responses if you go to the Cruise Critic website and their Celebrity forum. Here's the link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=28
Oh, thank you for that.

definitely need a cruising forum for this. Seems wifi at sea is never as good as wifi at home, so I just unplug for the week and if necessary, check at a free wifi spot on shore. Any port will have a place close by. My family knows how to contact the ship in an emergency. $224 is almost $300 Cdn. That's a lot of shore snorkel trips or wine at dinner for my money.
I would think the from $224 indicates that pricing increases for
- Cruises longer than a certain number of days
- Higher speed service, i.e. 20 Mps vs 6 Mps
Or some combination of the two.
Please note that I've picked random numbers to illustrate the difference bet high speed vs regular. These are not official Celebritiy broadband numbers.
All ship internet is slow to very slow to nothing as they use a satellite connection with very limited band width. I think it is per "sign-on" and can use it on any device. And finally as you indicate it is expensive. We avoid using the ships systems. Just take an ipad or iphone ashore and use free wifi. It is everywhere - many bars will advertise free wifi. Our experience is with Royal Caribbean and many Holland America.
