Camera strap

Has anyone ever used the pac safe camera strap, either the wrist strap or the sling strap, for their DSLR camera? I have a Nikon Coolpix P900 I want to take to Italy, and while the camera isn't that heavy, it weighs a ton around my neck. Thanks.

I haven't tried the PacSafe one, but I have a Joby Sling Strap (for women)

It's defaulting to the Canadian site... https://joby.com/ca/ultrafit-sling-strap-ca

I love it. I hate having a camera hanging around my neck - makes my neck and shoulders hurt. I used to make my regular strap long so I could use it cross body, but hubby got me one of these as an Xmas gift some years back. The women's has a curve to it so it fits over the 'ladies' better. ;)

And it's easy to get on and off the camera if you want to put it on a tripod...

I use the Peak Design sling and wrist strap. I love the quick connects that allow me to change from wrist strap to sling quickly. You can also configure the Slide lite to work as either a conventional strap or sling by just changing the connection points.

Thick shoelace for my DSLR. The camera is always in my hand. I never let it dangle. The shoelace wrist loop is on there just in case it slips out of my hand which is rare.

I do the same as funpig, except I use a more legitimate? wrist strap. When my camera is out of the bag it is always in my hand.

Do you think having a camera across your body is a target vs a wrist strap?

Pam, No, I don't think a wrist strap is a deterrent to theft. I don't worry about theft of my camera. I don't think it is a target of thieves...but I don't know this for sure. I just don't like neck or cross body camera straps. I don't like the camera hanging from me. I like to walk around with it in my hand as I'm using it. Otherwise, it is away in my backpack, which I have just for my camera.

I use a Black Rapid strap and wear it cross body. It makes it a little tougher to steal and it's very secure.

Likewise I use the Blackwater strap. Soooo much better than the neck strap. The only negative is when it gets tangled up in my backpack straps.😬......like tourist shame.

Thanks everyone for your help. I’m going with a crossbody strap for my camera so I always have it ready, still thinking about which brand.

I assume they are a target, and assume the risk. I have camera insurance for my Nikon D610 that I purchase yearly through PPA, plus I get travel insurance. It gives me some peace of mind, anyway.

I tried the sling strap for a trip to Europe one summer, and in my experience, it did not work well for me. My husband adjusted it for himself and he liked it. He ended up taking most of the pictures that year! So, I just use the standard around-the-neck strap. No pac safe strap - just use the regular one.

I do worry about my camera being stolen, more so than money. You can replace money but you can't replace memories (besides, I keep my money in a money belt).

+1 on the Black Rapid strap.

Blockquote You can replace money but you can't replace memories

You can minimize the loss of memories if you take care of your SD cards. Use a different one each day, label them, and store them in the room safe. Every night back up that day's card to your laptop or cloud space or both. That way if your camera is lost or stolen you only lose that day's photos (and of course those potential photos for the rest of the trip).

On my recent trip to Italy I used a pac safe strap on my cross-body day bag, which carries my camera, phone, and water bottle. There's a Black Rapid cross body strap on the camera but for the most part the camera was in my hand or in my bag and the strap was worn while shooting in case I accidentally dropped it.
