Bose NC Headphones

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I have an old pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that I really like. They’re the over the ear type that help drown out the noise in airplane cabins. I don’t fly without taking them with me. The only exception night be short haul flights. The only downside for me the bulkiness and high price. I came across a couple of Black Friday deals and thought I would share them here. They do make nice gifts for travelers.

eBay has an older version that’s inexpensive as far as Bose headphones go. This version does not have Bluetooth so is corded. The in stock model is for Apple products and appears to have the round plug connector. Sold by Bose.

Bose also has the newer models discounted on its website.

Hope we’ll all be safe to travel soon.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday and don’t overstuff yourselves!😉

Hey Rocket.

Thanks for posting that sale info.

Similar to you, I usually only take ours (QC15 for me and QC25 for Mrs Peter, both corded) on longer flights. The cases for each pair are slightly different shapes as they're different generations of the QC line, but we don't find the size of the case to be an issue. They both fit neatly in a messenger bag.

They work surprisingly well at blocking out the noise on an aircraft. Its interesting how loud it is in the cabin when I take them off after having had them on for a while. They weren't inexpensive but like many things, you get what you pay for.

I love my QC35s. Amazing noise cancellation and comfort but the size is difficult to justify when I only use them on the flights. I recently purchased some Air Pod Pros and was pleasantly surprised at how effective their noise cancellation is (about 85% in my scientific stand by my running clothes dryer test). They are marginally less comfortable. I do need to take them out for a bit after a couple of hours. However, the size difference is phenomenal. They are now only $169 on Amazon.

I had the older over the ear Bose for years and loved them. When the headphones finally fell apart I went to the Bose store and salesman talked me into trying the QC20 (earbuds with cords). I'm extremely happy with my QC20 and they pack well. I have the NC cancelling AirPods but have not used them on an airline flight. I'm an old guy, one change every 10 years...

I enjoy my noise canceling, over-the-ear phones tremendously. Mine are Sony, purchased at Costco when they were came up on a promotional sale.
If you are shopping for NC phones, Bose definitely makes some of the better tools, but there are many others on the market, in all formats (over the ear, on the ear, in the ear), from many manufacturers, and in a wide range of prices. Visit as many review sites as you want to study before buying a set.

These are not a frivolous purchase. Once you have been in an annoyingly loud environment with your noise canceling headphones, you will wonder how you ever got along without them.

Some years ago I purchased a pair of NC over the ear head phones from SAS which at the time were $100 cheaper than comparable Bose. They were the second rated ones after Bose on the C..R..ratings. I fly between Hawaii and Seattle several times a year in a 5 1/2 hours flight and these NC headphones work great. Bluetooth so cordless.

We've got both the over the ear and the corded ear buds from Bose. DH wears hearing aids so the over the ear headset works well for him. I love my ear buds. They're the first ones I've found that can be worn comfortably for long hours on an overseas flight. And I can even sleep with them in. We use them often when travelling. Planes and long train rides of course. But also to listen to music by the pool/beach without disturbing people around us. And I sometimes will watch something on Netflix at night on my tablet without bothering DH if he turns in early.
