Bluetooth earbuds

Are Bluetooth earbuds recommended for RS audio guides and museum guides? If so, what brands has anyone had success with? Is it wise from a security standpoint to use Bluetooth when you are out on the streets?

I can only answer the second question. I bought Bose wireless earbuds for my daughter and she loves them. She thinks they are so much better than wired ones. They are a little bigger in her ears but great to use, good sound, very reliable.

I don't think the audio guides used on RS tours are bluetooth enabled.

The whisper system used on the November Sicily tour was not Bluetooth compatible. I have not yet found a museum or tourist site that uses Bluetooth either. I carry both. Wireless when using my devices, wired ones where necessary. The wired ones are cheapos.

The guides used by the tour and those used in museums do not appear to work with wireless earbuds or phones of any type. At least not as of 6 months ago. They receive the transmissions but do not transmit themselves.

No reason why not to use Bluetooth with your own devices if supported. It is definitely more comfortable to not have to worry about the dangling cords. And the process of connecting any Bluetooth device to your phone or tablet or computer will keep out anyone you don't want getting in. Bluetooth will drain the battery faster if you use it.

Agree with Mark. I'm planning on using my AirPods to listed to the RS guides from my iPhone.
