Hi everyone: I was just wondering if people are allowed to use binoculars in the Sistine Chapel?
Yes, they were when we visited, but that was a few years ago. They were VERY useful for viewing the ceiling. My husband and I each have a pair of very small, compact (folded, fit in palm of hand), excellent-quality binoculars (Zeiss). We take his and hers when we are viewing nature, so we don't have to share when trying to catch a whale breech, etc. To Europe, we only take and share one pair because most of what we are viewing is still life.
They're wonderful for viewing the details on the facades of buildings.
Cheers,
Vivian
Don't try and use the phone method in the Sistine Chapel - you will be reprimanded by the guards as they assume you are taking photos which is not allowed.
