Best CPAP battery

My husband has used a CPAP for 10+ years and we've traveled at least annually in western Europe and the UK with no need for anything except a plug adaptor. Unless you're going way off the beaten path, save your money and weight in your bag.

Check your machine but it should be 110-240 adaptable if it was made within the last twenty years. No need for battery packs unless you are camping.

As mentioned, you can just use a plug adapter and plug it in at the hotel. If you must use it without AC power, then it's a math problem:

Worst case: Like my buddy up at deer camp, bring a 40 pound lead-acid marine deep cycle battery. Convert the 12 vdc to 115 va with an inverter. It will run his cpap all night if he doesn't use the humidifier, if he does, that 100 amp-hour battery won't last all night. Not gonna work for you.

Best case: Use a cpap that runs on 12 vdc, don't even bring the humidifier, bring a lithium-ion battery. Depending on model and useage (breathing) the cpap may draw 20 watts without the humidifier. 20/12.5 = 1.6 amps. 1.6 amps x 8 hours = 12.8 amp-hours. I looked on Ebay and found an 18 amp-hour lithium-iron battery for $58 that says 5 lbs. A battery rated at 20 amp-hours would be better.

You would need to also bring a charger capable of re-charging the battery in maybe 12 hours, and capable of charging LiFePo4 batteries. That might add another 3 lbs.

But I gotta add a big YMMV here. Lots of variables. If you really have to bring a battery, definitely try it at home for a week or so.

I so appreciate all your responses. We will not need the battery for the majority of our time, but there are occasions we will definitely want it. If anyone has a battery recommendation, I would be grateful!
