Anyone else having problems today with the forum?

I'm getting some real lags here when posting, and a couple of threads are bringing up the dreaded "Rick Steves on the floor" page. It's not affecting all the threads; just some, which is weird. And it's taking me 3 tries to get this posted.

Just wondered if it was me or if anyone else was having this problem.

It's not just you:) It will stall, try again, stall, refresh and sometimes it works. Who knows, lol.

I sent an email to Andrew so hopefully he will be aware of it (and may be already).

Hello all, we were indeed having some server issues this morning. They were restarted early in the 9 o'clock hour (PT) and everything looks good since that time. Thank you for your reports to ensure we could fix this for you and others asap.

"is there a good way to search?"

Have you tried the Search tool at the top of the page? (Note, this is behind the menu button in the top corner on mobile devices)

After submitting a search query, be sure to use the options where it says Filter By to select only forum results. Once you do that, you can refine the forum results to limit the results to newer discussions.

OR, you can use Google's search engine and end your query with "site:community.ricksteves.com" (without the quotes) to limit their results to just our forum.

The hardest place to search for in the forum is "Nice", since you not only get the place in France, you also get nice hotels, nice restaurants, nice flights, etc...

Isn't that nice?

"Anyone else having problems today with the forum?"

I often have the problem that many people do not find my humorous observations, questions and/or anecdotes amusing.

Is it me? Or is it a computer problem? That's my question,

Happy travels.

THANKS Andrew!!

I actually search for items on the Forum in Google, type in RS Forum, subject. I've had better luck with it than using the search function inside the Forum.

Thanks for the update, Andrew—and thanks for fixing it!

I actually search for items on the Forum in Google, type in RS Forum, subject. I've had better luck with it than using the search function inside the Forum.

OR, you can use Google's search engine and end your query with "site:community.ricksteves.com" (without the quotes) to limit their results to just our forum.

Sandancisco, that works, but if you really want to fine tune your search, do what the Webmaster suggested above. You can even limit it to a specific forum. For example, if you just want to search in the Sweden forum, input site:https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/sweden and then add your query search words.

So it would look like this: site:https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/sweden Uppsala hotels

I have occasionally gotten those CloudFlare "verifying to see if you are a human" delays. RAPT uses this, as well as a few other sites Anti-Botware programs. .
