We got one for Christmas and someone told me they thought it would work in Europe. Does anyone know?

Yes as long as the tv has a hdmi port, you will have to go into settings on the fire stick so that it picks up the WiFi network you want to connect to

Even if it works, not everything available to you at home will be available on the road.
However, I believe there's something called Ewetube or something similar that sometimes has a variety of programs ......
