Middle April Jungfrau Region BEST HIKES

Hello guys, I will go with my son(13 years old) to Grindewald in 17 April 2025 and i would like know if i can make some hikes at this period or is still too cold?

Can i make Eigergletscher to Kleine Scheidegg?
Lauterbrunnen Valley Path?
Grütschalp to Mürren panorama trail?
Murrem to Gimmewald??

Can you give some other choices of hike for April?

Our objective is EASY/MODERATE hikes with beautiful PANORAMICS VIEWS.

Ps: I know that Allmendhubel and Männlichen will be closed this period.

Thanks a lot,

Fabio.

cold isn't the issue, snow and mud on the trails is.

You can walk on the roads in the valley because they are kept open. Some paths in the sun will melt snow faster than those not.

April is one of those difficult times, too late for skiing and snowboarding, too early for much hiking or walking. A few years ago I was there third week of April and Lauterbrunnen was clear but wet, Mürren cable car station had a snow drift about 8 feet high and a cut had been made through for the path, further along in Mürren the pedestrian roads were clear of snow on at least one side of the road, and some of the roads were icy especially in the shade. We didn't intend to go higher - as regular visitors we were just there to enjoy a brief visit and reach out over the valley and "touch" the mountains.

Unless they are closed for maintenance the trains and cable cars will be as normal.. Good views from them.

A lot will depend on the weather in the immediate days before and during your visit. Maybe you will be lucky.

It is possible to do these walks all year round:

Lauterburnnen valley

Grütschalp - Mürren

Mürren - Gimmelwald

Last year, I visited Grindelwald First at the end of April, and there was still plenty of snow. You can check if the hike to Bachalpsee will be open during your trip. It’s a well-maintained winter hiking trail. A moderate hike, and a bit more challenging than the three easy walks mentioned above.

Here is a link to some information regarding winter hiking. I also included a link to a video of the Bachalpsee hike in winter that I found on YouTube.

For Eigergletscher to Kleine Scheidegg it shows that the best time of year (winter season) is only until March, but that is something you can check with the tourist information when you are in Grindelwald. I would ask them for other recommendations as they will know the current conditions.
