Hello, we will be staying in Wengen and traveling to areas in Bernese Oberland area for 7 days, We think the B. O. pass is the best for our itinerary but needing advice on if the Swiss half fare card is woth adding to it
Where will you be (and for how long) before and after Wengen? That seems to make a difference. If you’re traveling by train to/from Wengen, you need to compare the prices on the SBB app. Note that those price assume you have the Half Fare card. So for true comparison, you need to double those prices to see the full cost of tickets.
I just noticed your other post asking the same question. Looks like you’ve received the answer already? https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/switzerland/travel-from-wengen-to-milan
If you are in the Berner Oberland for 7 days, you can get an 8-day B.O. pass for 250 CHF with Half Fare Card, saving you 130 CHF. Since the Half Fare Card costs 120 CHF, it's kind of a no brainer.
Also...with the Berner Oberland Pass, you can hop on any route covered by the pass...as many times as you want. Great for "impulsive travel." For example, last year we wanted to ride the newer Eigergletscher. We rode it down to Grindelwald in a packed car (People heading down from the Jungfraujoch).
So, we decided to ride it again from Grindelwald up to Mannlichen in the afternoon, and then continue on to Wengen. My husband and I were the only 2 people in the whole car. It was awesome!
And yes, we had both the ½ fare card as well as the BO Pass.

Do you convert the currency from francs to us dollars? I did and its only like 16.00 less. Thats I am wondering if my calculations are correct
