I am road tripping 22 days in Switzerland. I plan to use Gimelwald as a three day homebase. Your thoughts please? Also, can I drive up there or do I leave my car in Interlacken and take the choo choo uo the hill ?
thank god you can not drive up there. there are places to park at interlaken for sure.
You can leave your car in Lauterbrunnen at the car park near the train station. Gimmelwald, Murren and Wengen are all car free with Gimmelwald being the most remote of the 3.
There is a parking lot at Stechelberg where you take the cable car up to Gimmelwald. No need for a choo-choo.

22 days with a rental car? In the land of superb public transport and you're even visiting those alpine villages where you can't take a car... Did you consider train travel for your visit?
My entire trip is 68 days through 5 countries!
