We will be in Barcelona on September 11. I understand it is a holiday. What can we expect? What type of celebrations will take place? Is everything closed down for the day? Trying to plan accordingly.

Here is a link to a thread from ealier this year on what to expect for Sept. 11 in Barcelona. It is the National Day of Catalonia which commemorates a 1714 siege in the War of the Spanish Succession and is also often a time for Catalan indepencence marches and events. My experience from about 15 years ago as well as other posts on the thread linked above report no problems with anything being closed. It can be an opportunity to learn about Catalan culture and politics if you are interested.
