Tickets for Sevilla Cathedral including Giralda Bell Tower Climb

I am attempting to buy tickets for the Sevilla Cathedral and Giralda Bell Tower at RS's recommended site--www.cathedraldesevilla.es but it is an unsecure site. Any recommendations for a secure site to buy those tickets?

When are you going? I purchased my tickets day of by going to Church of the Savior first. We got there 15 minutes before opening, visited that church and then went over to the Cathedral and were able to skip the ticket line. The ticket is a combo ticket for the two churches and includes the Giralda. I know when I looked at buying tickets for the Sevilla Alcazar, when you start the purchase the webiste which also was an unsecured site became a secure sight. The only other help I can give you is that on these sites, sometimes Mastercard works better than VISA.

You (or RS) have the wrong spelling; it is http://www.catedraldesevilla.es then click on the British flag for English information.

It does look unsecure at first, but I believe when you get to the payment page it moves to be a https type site

You are correct: I had the wrong spelling. It also appears that I cannot buy tickets online until no more than three weeks ahead. We will be there in April, so I will have to wait. Thank you for the information regarding an "unsecure" page becoming secure at the payment page.

Also, thank you Jules M. for the information about Church of the Savior. We have an easy day the day that we will visit the cathedral, so we may visit the church, also.

Lindy, they are really into their parades/processions with the church's Virgin Mary on a float. Some of the churches have the floats displayed. They look extremely heavy and people carry them. It was fun to visit the various churches and see the floats. We saw floats at Church of the Savior, Basilica de Macarena, and the church of Santa Anna in Triana. The people are very devoted to their own favorite Virgin.

Jules M., I've read that in RS's new Spain book. He said that after meeting a new person in Sevilla, first you ask them which soccer team they support and then which Virgin Mary! ( I love Gareth Bale. So, for me the answer would be Real Madrid. Not sure about the Virgin Mary!) I guess I'll need to check out those floats for that answer.

Yes, if you are there during Semana Santa or the Saturday before definitely wait in line at a church to see the statues. I crossed the river into Triana and walked until I saw a line at a church. I speak Spanish so I asked a man about the line and he told me it was to see the statue before it goes on the float. Was interesting just to people-watch.

I also recommend a visit to the Cathedral on Palm Sunday. I'm not religious but you could get in line to go into a small doorway to the side aisle of the church. There you could see the priest holding mass. Most people just wanted a glimpse so they came and left after a few minutes. The church was also giving away palms/ olive branches. I loved to walk around that Sunday and took pictures of the various church's processionals around the church and then back inside. I also took pictures of the various processionals around the city during the week. When I got back home, the first thing people asked me was why they were wearing Klan costumes. Sigh.

We were there in November. I guess the floats can go around town at times in addition to lent/Easter. The person at the desk at our wonderful little inn (El Rey Moro) "hunted" down the location of the "virgins" because sometimes they can be out in a procession. He didn't want us to head to a church when the Virgin might be "out". The Triana virgin had just been on procession so she was still on her float in the church. There was no line, but there were plenty of locals inside paying their respects to the Virgin. The Macarena Virgin was in her place at the altar and there was no wait to get in and see her.

Thank you, Heather and Jules M.! I will be on the lookout for the virgins! On a like note, if there are any sightings of Gareth Bale, please let me know!

I agree when I bought tickets to the Real Alcázar de Sevilla, it took me to a secure site when I started the purchasing process.

I would assume once you choose your payment method in Step 3 of the process on the Catedral de Sevilla site, it probably takes you to a secure site to complete the payment. However, before you can choose your payment method, it asks you for the name, email address, passport number, phone number, country, and postal code of the purchasing person. In addition, it asks for the names, passport numbers, and birth dates for the other people in the group. All of this information has to be completed on the unsecure site, before you can even choose your payment method.

I could wait until we get there and buy tickets that morning. But, I would really like to buy the tickets ahead of time because we will be in Sevilla during Holy Week, which may make it more difficult to purchase same day tickets.

Any other thoughts or recommendations?

Well, that certainly is a concern. At this point, their calendar is four days away from the date we want to visit, so I haven't been able to do the process. If it does ask for my passport information on an unsecure site, I will probably wait until we arrive to purchase tickets. We arrive two days before our desired date of the visit, so I do not anticipate a problem. We will be there a week before the holy week. In your case, I hope someone can advise you who knows better than I what that week is like in terms of procuring tickets.

I have just been able to buy tickets for the Sevilla Cathedral and Giralda Bell Tower for the first week in April. The only information that I had to include about my passport was the country that it was issued from--no passport number or any information other than the country. I now have my tickets printed! Thank you everyone for your help.
