I am attempting to buy tickets for the Royal Alcazar in Sevilla in April 2019 using the link provided in RS Spain 2019. The link is www.alcazarsevilla.org. It is an "unsecure" site. Does anyone have any suggestions for a secure site?
When you go to this site http://www.alcazarsevilla.org/english-version/ and click on tickets, it takes you to a secure site for purchase. You are wise to prepurchase tickets.
Thank you for the information, however, my credit card transaction was denied! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (By the way, my credit is excellent, so that's not the problem.)
Lindy, I'm sure its not your credit. People often have problem with buying tickets on line in Spain. If you have a master card, try that
Thank you. I will try another credit card. So far, Visa and American Express do not work. Before I try again, do you know if I have to have some form of special ID for the senior rates? Much appreciated!
Some places in Spain offer a senior rate but limit it to EU citizens or perhaps local residents. I see only a reference to "retired people" on the ticketing page of the website, which sounds like Americans could qualify, but I wouldn't be shocked to find out that my assumption is wrong. I'd expect to need a passport to prove my age, though some places may accept a photocopy.
Sometimes credit cards reject charges coming from overseas because they set off a fraud alert. You might try calling the 800 number on the back of your card. It will not hurt. Otherwise, if PayPal is an option, you can use that.
Depending on the credit card company you have, they might do the transaction for you. My Nordstrom VISA representative actually purchased French train tickets for me a few years back when I couldn't get the transaction to go thru. So yes, call the 800 number. I did have to purchase tickets (I think it was the Alhambra) with my master card because nothing else worked, but once in Spain, you shouldn't have any difficulties with VISA. I prefer not to use my master card because there are foreign transaction fees with mine.
Thank you for all your replies: you are a wealth of knowledge. My husband has a Paypal account, so I'll wait for him to try that. I will post again in case others have the same issues later on.
Do call your credit card company. They can tell you if they blocked the transaction (in which case they can remove the block and you can try again), or if the transaction never got through to them (in which case they can't do much).
In addition to trying Paypal, try a different device (phone, tablet, computer) and/or a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera). Sometimes, for inexplicable reasons, one will work when another will not.
Finally! I took the advice to call my credit card company and resolved this over the phone. I was given step-by-step instructions. It went through! I now have the tickets. I was also given the direct line to Verified by Visa for the next time this happens. Thanks to all of you for your very helpful suggestions.
