Spend a night in Cordoba February

I have a trip planned spending 5 nights in Seville and 3 nights in Granada. Will be seeing Cordoba between Seville and Granada. Flying from West Coast to Seville so will have jetlag.

Question, should I cut a day from Seville and instead spend a night in Cordoba, leaving the next day for Granada or just spend a long day in Cordoba while in transit? Daylight hours will be shorter, so I have a bit of concern regarding finding my accommodations in Granada when it's dark. But then, I do like to limit the amount of hotel changes. I was thinking of taking a night tour of the Alhambra (will book a day tour too) the night I would be arriving in Granada.

And perhaps there is one more option. Day trip to Cordoba and then take a bus between Seville and Granada instead.

A bit of a side note, I had booked my 5 nights in Seville a long time ago, and when going to adjust it to 4 nights, I would only get $30 back since the rates went up. That also caused me to pause.

Hi Gail,
I really enjoyed Cordoba after dark. Spending a night there allowed us to see parts of the town we wouldn't have had time for on a daytrip. Since you are traveling in February, which will not be as busy as other times of the year, I would select a hotel that is a bit closer to the Mezquita (for example) to make sure that you are able to find an open restaurant that suits your tastes.

I spent one night in Cordoba and feel it’s a day trip from Sevilla. There’s not much left of the old town and you do not need to spend the night to appreciate it. I say save yourself the hassle of changing hotels and sleep in Sevilla.

My sister in law and I spent one night in Cordoba in early February, 2018. We took the train from Madrid and arrived in Cordoba around 10:30 a.m. That day we had a full day of sightseeing and that night went to a Flamenco show (on a previous trip to Seville, I went to a Flamenco show and it was vastly superior to the one in Cordoba).

If I was in your position, especially since you will only get $30 credit for changing your hotel from five nights to four nights, I would just do a day trip to Cordoba.

While I have spent a night in Cordoba on two trips and like it, I think in your specific situation (lodging already booked and not much of a refund), I would probably leave it as a day trip. I just glanced at Renfe for train times on a random evening next week: they run about every half hour Cordoba - Seville till 9:20pm - and only take 50 min. So you could easily stay in Cordoba fairly late if you want (and definitely long enough to see it after dark) - and still get back to Seville.

Thanks for the advice. Purchased my tickets for a day trip to Cordoba. Seems to have gone smoothly and Renfe is having a Black Friday sale. :) I didn't know Black Friday was a thing outside the US. Now time to figure out the Alsa bus for Seville to Granada.

We are in similar position. Taking the train from Madrid to Granada - which stops in Cordoba - so we want to spend the day there. I can find left luggage places around town. Does anyone know if there is a place inside the Cordoba train station? I would prefer to not heft my luggage very far (don’t judge… it’s a six week trip to multiple climate zones 😊). Thank you!
