Hi, in Madrid please share your experiences of a great show ...there is a lot of them...
Thanks
In August 2024 we went to Tablao Flamenco 1911. Having never been to a show before, and since we didn't go to any other shows, I can't comment on whether or not it was the "best." I can say that we got the cheapest tickets, and I'm glad we did because it just wasn't for us. I'm glad we went, but it wasn't our cup of tea.
There were three performers in the show that was a little over an hour long. There was very, very little room at the table where we were seated. In fact, the lady behind us asked us if my husband and I would switch places because her child could not see over my husband's head. After switching (and almost tipping the table over because there was no room to move) then I couldn't see around the taller person in front of me. Let's just say, I was ready to go after one performer. If flamenco really interests you, pay for more expensive seats. I'm assuming the show was good, as everyone else really enjoyed it!
Prior to seeing the previous response I was going to suggest watching a flamenco YouTube video so you’ll have an idea of whether you want to pay and sit through a one hour performance. It isn’t for everybody. I think some people go because they feel that one must go see one when visiting Spain. For my wife and I, five minutes of flamenco is four too many.
Thank you for your responses, this question was for the people that DO LIKE this type of shows, I do love them, I saw them in Barcelona with my daughter and now I want to see it again and take my husband.
the offer of this wonderful spanish tradition in Madrid are to many , so I was asking to the people that went, where they went and the review they have of the place, so I can take the best decision , I know I going to go, I just can't decide which one.
Thank you
Ok, I think I understand.
Madrid does draw the big stars on tour, but it's not the best place in Spain to see a flamenco show.
Are you visiting other cities in Spain on this trip?
If it's Madrid that you need, the place that gets the best reviews is a venue where most tourists go for dinner and a show, and unlike the usual flamenco spot, this place is very highly rated for its food. I prefer places where the show is the draw, so you can concentrate without people being served and distracting from the performers.
But if your only chance is in Madrid, and you are prepared to spend a fair amount, this is probably a good idea:
You might get lucky and see some big stars, too. And the food will be good!!
Personally, I'd rather scratch my own ears (and eyes) out before sitting through flamenco again, but if you want the generally recommended "best" and "most authentic" in Madrid then Teatro Tablao Flamenco Torero is usually mentioned. However, be aware that the "authentic" part means it is small and doesn't do food - it isn't a touristy dinner show, but instead going for the ambience of Granada "cave" performances. It is central, only a few minutes walk from Puerta del Sol.
