Recommendations for which of the four areas of the city in Rick Steves books are best to stay in for four night visit? I am favoring Old City or Ramblas.

I recently returned from Barcelona and stayed at Hotel Continental Barcelona on Las Ramblas. It was recommended to me by others on this site.
I was very happy with my choice.
It is on Las Ramblas which might not be for everyone but it is at the corner and you could avoid walking towards the Christopher Columbus monument if you choose. I would suggest that you do not.
There is also construction going on which did not bother me but might bother some. Construction is expected to last for more than a year.
I do not know if this is among the areas in the Rick Steve books but one neighborhood seems to run into the next neighborhood.
