First, figure out what you want to see and do. Either read Ricks' book Best of Spain for Barcelona ideas or research the ideas listed in the other post. Then create a schedule. For us it was one activity in the morning and one activity in the afternoon. Dinners are usually after 8pm, so your evenings are usually full, but you could fit in a flamenco show, if that's what you are interested in. or the evening light show at Casa Pedrera or an evening Food tour with Devour Tours. Can't remember if the magic fountain is running or not post-COVID. Plan on a walking tour of the Bari Gothic. There are several free (tip based) walking tour companies that will cover the highlights in the Gothic area. Consider if you want to do any trips to Monserrat, or Girona or Figueres or the beach at Sitges and schedule time for that. Then you will have an idea on how many days you need to visit Barcelona after your cruise. That's how we planned it. ask yourself, what are you interested in doing? We spent a week pre-cruise and still didn't get to see everything we wanted to see, so we came back another year for another week.
