Transport from Košice to Lviv, Ukraine

What is the best option for transport from Košice to Lviv, considering time, cost, and comfort? I'm open to taking a bus, but I'm concerned about the time waiting at the border. The train is nice, but can I book online in English? Ride-share would be ideal since that is the fastest option, but I do not have any contacts for that. Any thoughts?

The train time takes upwards of 9.5 hours as do the buses.

The Slovakian national rail company operates the train from Kosice to Mukachevo and Chop. The Slovakian train company’s website in English is https://predaj.zssk.sk. The Ukrainian National rail company operates any trains onward to Lviv. That website in English is https://booking.uz.gov.ua/en
Good luck!

This is not a trip i would offer second-hand Google / AI information on, and I've only crossed in from Hungary ... but that point wasn't far from Kosice.

I've done it by transfer service, and by train and the transfer service was a world better. But i went on to Kyiv, not Lviv. I would look and see if there was a transfer service from Kosice to Mukachevo.

TexasTravelMom used the same border crossing service and took a bus to Lviv, so she has first-hand information.

I tried purchasing train tickets on the Ukrainian rail site as Kenko suggests and, at least when I tried, had no luck. They apparently go on sale just a few weeks before and sell out fast.

There are other options, Poland, for example, so I would contact the tour guide referenced in the other post and pay her well to take care of all the details for you. She has made the trip several times and arranged it for me and others. It will be worth the small cost and head off a lot of potential problems.

Do also research the entry requirements and implications. I tried to cover them here https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/kyiv

Mr E, My moniker is Kenko and I prefer that you not change it to something else when you post.

I prefer that I not change it as well. So we are in agreement. Sorry, typo .... or maybe autocorrect: Mr Ë
