Texting In Scotland

It has only been a year since my last visit, but I have already forgotten how to do this :-)

I am using my cell phone in Scotland later this month. Once there, how do I text the following number:

+44 7432 123456

since that is a UK mobile number they probably have WhatsApp - a much more comprehensive option, free on wifi.

If you really want to text (I wonder about the costs you will incur) create a contact with that number and text the contact. Or just type in the number exactly as you have it but without any spaces.
