I’m looking for restaurant recommendations for Edinburgh on the Royal Mile area, primarily. They don’t have to be the most expensive or fancy places—just good food and atmosphere. Thank you!!!
Here's a recent post with Edinburgh restaurant recommendations.
We really enjoyed our dinner at O'Oliviero Italian restaurant in Grass Market. We ate dinner there after having a drink in a nearby pub.
Bertie's Proper Fish & Chips on Victoria St. (right off the Royal Mile) was very good. The fish was excellent - moist and tender and the batter was light and crispy. They had a very nice selection of beers, too, and I really enjoyed my IPA.
I also enjoyed a meal at Dishoom, which sits on St. Andrew Square and is sort of new age Indian and so delicious! They don't take reservations for dinner, but do for breakfast and lunch.
Avarome (also on St. Andrew Square) has really good Italian food. I had the Bucatini con Chorizo, which was delicious.
On my last night I met a hometown friend for dinner at BABA on George St. in New Town, which has wonderful Middle Eastern cuisine.
Thank you for these suggestions. I will check them all out!!
We ate 3 meals here last week. Try to get a reservation - it gets crowded. They always managed to squeeze us in without a reservation but we eat pretty early.
It’s right on Royal Mile.
Thank you! We will check it out.
Maison Bleue on Victoria St. is very close to the Royal Mile. Google them and see if it appeals to you. If so, you can probably use googlemaps.com to "walk" to it before you ever leave home.
We went to Cafe Andaluz in Stockbridge. There is a bus stop right by the restaurant. It is Spanish food and very good. - We also went to Memed BBQ Grill and Meze Bar. It is Turkish food. Very good also.
We really liked Mother India. Small plates and just the right amount of spice!
leave the royal mile and head to Scran & Scallie for a righteous Sunday roast, a fab dinner at Magnum with locals and locally sourced.
